Canon EOS 350D settings

I don't use the 350D (the 1000D) but the settings on dslr's are pretty universal I think. If you have guiding you can do longish exposures 4mins+, i have read that longer than ~8mins generates to much noise but I have no experience with this.

If you going unguided yor max time for an exposure with really good alignment is somewhere between 2/3mins (i usually do 90sec) however if your using a camera lense (instead of a telescope) I have found that you can push this time a min or 2 longer.

Other than that set the camera to 'Bulb' and ISO800 is good for most objects, open up the aperture as much as it will allow and off you go.
