Jupiter - what did I see?

Hi, I have just been watching Ganymede transit (about 23:00-24:00 UK).

About 1 hour "behind" the well defined shadow of Ganemede, and at the same latitude, there was another dark area.

Anyone have an idea of what is was?

Seeing was reasonable (not helped by observing over my house).

14" newt at x160 & x200.

p.s. so anoyed that I only remembered Uranus was so close once I got back in doors!

Hi, I just got back from observing Jupiter, I didn't even notice the transit till my girlfriend (non astro) pointed it out to me, I was surprised that it would be visible with my 4" mak, I'm a little chuffed now

I am seeing that too. I think it's the 'not so great red spot' i.e. there are two red spots whizzing round at the minute I think and this is the smaller one? eg http://stargazerslounge.com/imaging-planetary/112940-jupiter-sept-2-3-a.html

I am continuing to look to see if it's a partic dark area of the remnant SEB?
