Solid back plate mod

Hi All,

Question about cooling. On my Orion UK 10” Newt, the back plate behind the primary is solid and the way it is made with the adjuster screws for the primary so close together I can not fit a fan on the back. I want to get some air to move around the mirror to avoid any fogging with the colder nights coming on.

So the question is: Would it be a good idea or bad idea to drill a ¼ inch hole in the back plate to allow air to move?

I have added a pic to make it more clear what I am talking about.
