I am very surprised to find I am the only participant on this forum from Southern California, since it has been quoted as a "hotbed of amateur astronomy" by the author Timothy Ferris. There are more than fifteen astronomy clubs alone within a 50 mile radius.

I now live in Long Beach, having moved back to California from New Hampshire in January.
