Sun 23 July - First image double stacked

Finally a break in the showers allowed a couple hours of observing time and getting to grips with the Lunt60 in double stack mode. The difference between single and double is amazing, and I am sure that there is a LOT to learn!

Sunspot 1089 was on top form and the double stack began to give a 3D quality to the solar features. Turbulent atmosphere did cause quite some trouble for focussing but overall... not too shabby for the first try double stacked. Now... when are the showers going to give the NE of Scotland some proper observing time??

Lunt60 with (image 019, 018) and without double stack (006)

Skynyx 2.1 recorded with K3CCDTools

Stacked in AviStack and processed with CS2.

Once you go to double stacking you'll never (willingly!) go back.

I have a SM60 double stack on my ED80 and it gives excellent results with the DMK21.

Tuning the individual filters and then tuning them together takes a LOT of practise, but when they are working in concert, majic happens.

My exposures are around 1/120 for surface and 1/11 for proms.
