I couldn't find a section for daft questions so I hope its ok here!

Is it ok to store my nexstar 8se standing upright on its 'dustcap'? It takes up a lot less room like that, but not sure if its better lying flat.

I personally wouldn't do that. If you've been out on a dewey night and bring it into the house then all the moisture will drip down onto the corrector plate. Even on dry nights you might get some excess blob of grease from the focuser slowly dripping down. I keep my sct level or slightly tilted back.
