Very large fireball...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I was observing the Moon and the moons of Jupiter last night, and I also saw the blob of M13 through my 8X30s - that was a first.

I also saw a massive fireball, which flared in brightness once or twice, before exploding and then extinguishing - I could see the individual pieces shatter off from the main body. It was in the west/south-west direction (I saw it from my south facing window, slightly to the right) at around 00:21 this morning. Did anyone see it? It really was a whopper!

George.
