Surface detail 26th July

Its cleared up nicely this evening, so I've just been out with the PST (unmodded version) double-stacked and the DMK21. Some high cloud, quite breezy, moderate seeing.

These jumped out at me as soon as I looked in the eyepiece Other features were more difficult to see though (with and without the double stack)

Hi Helen,

How did you get the colour to tjis image ?

I have DMK 21 colour camera and I am getting the Newton rings problem, and I just can't get the image any whre near to being focused

If it's a PST not focusing then that's normal with a DMK style camera, not enough focus travel. Drop a barlow in and it will work..

Colours, very easy in Photoshop or similar, load up the mono image, and change mode to RGB, then increase the red level a bit, blue level down a lot, and green down a bit...

I use a shortened nose-piece on the DMK to get focus and so don't need a barlow.

Ah...yes, forgot about that option. Knew there was one for the Toucam, but Helen's right...I think AE make short nose adapters
