Q. re. S@N Solar Scope Group Test

Recommended Posts

Just a question on the terminology used in the review article. [Hopefully clear enough anyway] This... "blocking filter" - That sits at the bottom of the eyepiece holder and has a dimension... 5mm (PST), 10mm (Solarmax 40). Presumably this has some effect on maximum field of view - Much as e.g. the exit orifice of an SCT/MCT...

I assume one can still use eyepieces with field stop greater than this value, 'cos presumably the light cone is still expanding at this point? Otherwise put, what is a typical maximum visual field for these scopes - Presumably (a fair bit) greater than one solar disc? Can one use a maximum field standard 1.25" eyepiece - 32mm Plossl, whatever? ;)

P.S. For those with access to the magazine: I assume the visual image DETAIL is something like the accompanying photographic images show?
