Microsoft have reported combining scanned plates form the Hale telescope and the UK Schmidt telescope into the mother of all mosaics.

Terapixel - Microsoft Research

1800 pairs of R and B images stitched into one image of 802GB.

Supposed to be avialble through the World Wide Telescope, but I have not seen anything to say it is live yet.

Anyone got a confirmed sighting?
