Uranus and two moons - 10 July 2010

Got my first decent look at Uranus this year with my 16" LB. Small disk seen. Dawn was starting to break, but the sky was dark enough to reveal two of Uranus's moons. Titania is to the right of the planet's blue-grey disk. Oberon is to the left and slightly lower down.

I have seen both moons a few times, but they looked slightly nearer when I viewed them. The 16" LB really pulls in the light doesn't it.

Its funny - it never even crossed my mind to look for its moons til I zoomed in to it on stellarium. It was only then that I thought 'yeah i'll give it a go !!

The 16" LB really pulls in the light doesn't it.

It really does Mick. It's certainly made me one happy bunny since I got it last November !
