Has anyone used this scope ?

Recommended Posts

I bought that scope a year or so ago for the motors and sold the actual telescope on pretty much straight away to help cover the cost.

I had a quick look through it before I sold, it seemed OK for what it was (60mm is very small). No obvious faults.

A problem with GOTO on scopes that small is that there isn't much you can see when the scope is pointing at an object. That scope limits you to the brighter objects that you could probably find on your own anyway.

My advice would be to spend the money on the optics and mount not the "gizmos" <Puts tin hat on>:D

I have to agree with Gaz.

Go for the some decent aperture for a scope I have an ETX70 as a portable scope and I wish it was at least an 80mm scope (like the new one).

They do put a 102mm scope on that mount, or one very similar to it. That's more like a decent size. They also have a 114mm reflector, I believe.

All things considered, though, I am beginning to think that an entry level scope is probably a 6" reflector or a 90mm frac. Both are available on Goto mounts.
