I thought I'd reply to this, even though the last post was 6 years ago.  

I visited the Jantar Mantar last year and found it fascinating.  The 19 monuments were completed in 1734 which makes it all the more amazing. 

This one intrigued me for a while, then I realised the answer.  Two sundials, built back-to-back, one for the northern hemisphere and one for the southern.  But there are two days of the year when neither are able to tell the time.
