Evening,

Was wondering if anyone has any links to suppliers of all things screwy.

I'm going to be making my own guide scope rings as I cant find anything that I really like the look of i.e. too flimsy looking for the sort of scope I want them to hold.

Found the ali but just need to find some decent screws for holding the scope. Found one site which seems unrealisticly priced so wondered if anyone had a regular supplier they use.

Cheers muchly.

Socket Cap screws? I buy mine from a local supplier in Qty, BUT Screwfix have A2 Stainless and BZP at fairly reasonable prices.

Hi Wayne,

I was after something that can be tightened without the need for a tool. Had a look on screwfix but they dont sell anything like I'm after.

Might just bite the bullet and get the ones I've found, just seem a bit much at £3 a piece.

Karlo, your a gent, I had just found that website when you replied. They look very good for what I'm after and a whole host of things that I'm not.

My guide rings are going to have some spiffing screws on them now.....

Just another question, I'm after some 4" and 5" OD ali tube, pref with a 1/4" wall. Most places dont have it, they only seem to have 10swg wall (approx 3.2mm) which isn't meaty enough for my liking.

Cheers.

The 5" looks good from there although I did find somewhere else that will 2500mm for £60.

The 4" looks like it will be a bit more of an issue but 10swg might be ok. Does anyone have any 100mm guide scope rings?

Have you thought of rolling them from, say, 1" x1/4" Aluminium strip? Roll a circle and butt the ends. Use a section from a second ring to make a strong joint with a couple of rivets (or bolts) each side. Should be strong and A LOT cheaper!!

I dont have the equipment to get it as nice as I'd want it.

I'm probably just going to go with the 5" tube.

Oh well if thats all you need.....in fact why not just cut a lump out of the lamp post, drill some holes in it and get rid of some LP at the same time......bingo bango bongo, job done.

Simon, Try mail order metals, 78 Colley Leys Lane, Clifton, Notts,NG11 8JD. or ring Steve on 0015 974 8211, fax 0115 974 5469.

or Forward Metals

The former can source it for you I'm sure if he hasn't got it in stock, also no minimum order from either seller :D

Thanks again Karlo, I found Forward Metals on ebay of all places. Will try the other though.

I have Industrial Metal Services quite local to me and my dad and brother are both still in engineering but none of them could get the 4" OD 1/4" wall.

Sorry about the previous post. As I was typing it I thought of a company I've not used in years, Cromwell Tools. They are just up the road and do all sorts of good stuff.

The trouble with your requirement, is tube is fairly specialised especially in Ally.

My commercial suppliers list 4" 6082 (he30) tube from 16 swg right up to 1" wall inc 1/2" They would not hold it in stock though.

If I was wanting something similar for a couple rings I'd be buying a few inches of 4" solid and turn it into rings. Wastful but probably cheaper for such a small quantity.

Hi Wayne,

I'd love to do some machining but unfortunatley no access to a lathe anymore.

The link from Ray however has given me exactly what I'm after so thankyou for that.

Just waiting to hear back from them regarding price.
