its "Dark Flats" you can do without NOT Darks.... 2nd chart...

yep- see that now! so, what exactly IS a 'dark flat'?

It seems a bit nonsensical at first ...

But its a dark taken with the same exposure settings as the flats... Useful if your flat exposures are sufficiently long to have dark noise...

Since making the EL flats panel I tend to go the full Calibration route as the flats and flat darks only take a few mins to take...

I just use a master bias as a dark for my flats. Seems to work very well. I think I got that idea from Harry Page.

Thats what DSS is doing in Option 2 when no Dark Flats are available...
