I have 30 x 5 min subs and 30 x 3 min subs, how do I stack them? can I just load the lot into DSS and let it do its stuff, or do I have to make 2 stacks and stack the stacks?

It depends what result you are after and if you have matching darks for them...

I have started putting different length subs into seperate file groups with their matching darks whilst puting common files like bias and flats (if the optical setup hasnt changed between them ) in the main group.

Theres also entropy weighted stacking as an option...

Lets just say I'm trying to add total imaging time together(with all the assotiated files)

Then yes it will work(ish) if you just piled them all in the same list thats the way I used to do it...before I got to grips with file groups and lists...
