home made dob.

Recommended Posts

Just thought it's about time I put a few pics of my 10.25 inch dob that my dad and I built about 17 years ago. I always tell people about it but it never gets much further than my back yard and yes it does see alot of use .

What a lovely scope Vince - thanks for posting the pictures :D

The tube reminds me of Sir Patrick Moore's 15 inch.

Good focal ratio as well - I bet it holds it's collimation :p

Nice, Would love to do something like that myself. Am very impressed with the finish, mine would have bits of tape hanging off of it and nails sticking out all over the place :-)

Did you grind the mirrors your self too?? was it hard if you did? id like to build one with my dad too and there is a astronomy club near us that has the equipment to do it.

Great scope Vince. Looks beautiful. Takes me back a few years, a friend use to have one just like that, he made it in a dobsonian class run by Robin Gorman from Hampshire AG. His was an 8.5" f5.
