Clavius area mosaic

I had planned to do a whole moon mosaic last night.

I got about 30 avi's in when thin cloud of varying thickness made a full mosaic a no go.

So I increased the distance between the DMk's CCD and the 10mm EP I was imaging with and went for some small area High mag shots instead.

best 600 odd frames used from five 1500 frame avi's @ 30fps through a red filter.

Noisy but the seeing was not good.

As it happens I have Registax running right now with a less detailed view (my first ever attempt). What effect does the red filter give?

What effect does the red filter give?

The red filter helps to combat the effects of bad seeing( red light is not effected by the atmosphere as much as say blue light).

I thought with eyepiece projection red filter is not much of help.

did you use DMK21? what was your scope?

Yes, EP projection.

I can't think why that would make a diffrence to the effectiveness of only useing red light.

yes DMK21 and a 10" f4.8 skywatcher newt.
