I bought an adapter today that enables me to connect my handycam to my focuser on my 16" dob.

The moons out and it's still very light outside so I thought I'll test it out.

All I can see on my laptop screen is the secondary and primary mirrors along with the spider vanes.

I can rake the focuser in and out and still no joy. Even put in a large extension and still no joy.

Am I doing something wrong, why don't the moon fill the screen?

Told you I'm an imager noob.

No Mick.. you need to remove the lens on the camera or use it afocally - I got caught like then when I was trying our some birding scopes. However... you can get adaptors that just fit over eyepieces. I'm sure if you look somewhere on Birdwatching scopes, you will find something
