M92 - 15 September

Managed about an hour tonight from 9 'till 10pm before the clouds rolled in.

M92 Globular Cluster in Hercules - 2 x 60 secs @ 800 ISO and F9

Processed in Deep Sky Stacker and a bit of PS Elements

Its my first attempt at editting a cluster, I hope you feel I've done it justice?

You improved it a lot - thank you. I still need a loads of practice at tweeking my DSO images.

I did very little processing, just levels in PS (Elements), I was really trying out a couple of test shots with a cardboard Hartman mask focusser and was pleased that it worked so well.

The sky was very light when I took the shots - as mentioned above it was a trial image.

I went with your advice to focus on a bright star, before going to the DSO, but this time I used the Hartman mask.

Have you tried the Hartman mask?

I haven't used a Hartman mask but they make a lot of sense. When I use my fastar system the camera is mounted in front of the scope so there is a wire trailing across the objective. Even this is a neat aid to focussing.
