Weather is supposed to be good here also Rob, charging the Batteries for the Canon cam now, rather excited at the prospect of seeing a Lunar Eclipse after many a year of clouds spoiling the fun..

Astroman, I was told the nice Orange one's you rightly say 'Total Eclipse" the effect of the Orangeness can depend on whats being going on On Earth for example forest fire's like those seen in Australia and Volcano eruptions is this true? iam not saying it's all down to these factors but it helps even as far as here in the UK?

Thanks

James

That's right, James. The color is generally caused by the refraction of sunlight through our atmosphere. The intensity and shading depends on any additional atmospheric conditions on Earth, as you mention. More or less clouds, dust, etc.

I don't mean to discourage anyone from watching. You may see some darkening or even something spectacular. It's just that I've seen at least 4 partial lunar eclipses and only one was even noticable visually. Pictures are another thing. hint hint....
