While watching a big fire in Woolly Valley I snapped this from the hill behind our house. The moon was just starting to rise over the eastern hills. It was getting near dusk but it seemed to turn out quite well.:(

An eye for a great pic. you have Sam.

I played with the scene in my minds eye and removed the vegetation, and I was reminded a lot of a Rover picture on Mars.

I believe that one was a sunset, although your shot is very similar.

Thanks Ron, I was quite lucky being in the right spot at the right time. The whole part of the country there is pastoral farming so there's not too many trees - lots and lots of sheep though!:(

Thanks Russ and Michael, it feels a bit Martian here at the moment with the red sky. Daylight savings ends this weekend in NZ so hopefully a big season of observing/imaging is on the way!:(
