Hi dobbie,

With my C80 ED I find that the AZ4 mount is silky smooth and, on the 1.75" steel legged tripod (not the aluminium one), it is very robust/solid.

As a grab 'n' go what you gain in stability with the steel legs you lose in compactness (they're not collapseable), though I don't find them too heavy.

The alt/az scales are just stickers, so don't expect accuracy from them - but hey, it's a hand controlled alt/az model after all, without even slowmo/fine tuning controls.

BTW A drop of oil/smear of Vaseline wont go amiss where the steel handle threads into the aluminium casting. And on the altitude/azimuth tensioners.
