Markarian Chain and Friends from Kielder

Hi all,

Another one from Kielder. This was about 3.5 hours of 10 min subs taken with a Canon 400D with a 150mm lens. It was taken on the Friday night. The field of view is about 8.5 x 5.5 degress, so its quite large compared to the usual images of the Markarian Chain, but it shows lots of galaxies further afield.

And I've collated the brightest 47 galaxies into the lower image just for a bit of fun.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Dave...I have to admit that the thumb nails took seconds...well a few minutes. In PixInsight you can place little preview boxes all over the main image, i.e. one over each galaxy. Then there's a feature called PreviewAggregator that takes all the previews and arranges them on one seperate image. So I just saved the aggregated image. Its not what its really designed for, but if it works...

Simon ! You shouldn't have told me that. There was I thinking you slaved away all night just for us.

Neat trick that.

It's also a good way to investigate further photo projects with a scope.
