Hi I am a total beginner I have just purchased Mead GO-TO telescope. Unfortunately because of the weather I have not used it yet. This is my first post really, just to say hello.

Welcome to SGL Sean, clear skies soon, don't worry.

Read through the forum whilst waiting and study star maps and stellarium (free download-planetarium). Before you know it you'll be hunting things down.

Hi Sean,

Welcome to the forum. ;)

Don't worry, you'll get used to it - any astro-purchase seems to bring the clouds, almost as if they were packed in the box too. :)

A very warm welcome to SGL, thats the trouble with buying telescopes you can never seem to get away from the free offer : buy a telescope get cloud free, enjoy the forum.

This is the place for total beginners so a warm welcome, once the horrible weather clears the sky will be your playground.

Even here in the tropics, after a wonderfully hot sunny day, the clouds rolled in just in time to spoil any chance of Mercury and Venus. Now it's blowing a hooli and can hardly see any stars. :)

Thank you all very much for your very warm welcome, after all my moaning, last night I had what I am calling a baptism of fire.

Up here in the Furness area of Cumbria U.K. I had a fantastic view of the moon, now that was the bees knees, but then I stumbled on star with rings around it, even a total beginner like me knows I had spotted Satern.

I am hooked.

For those who asked I have a mead DS114s go-to

thank again

Sean
