First posted sketches M81/82, M3, M53

This is the first time I have tried scanning in sketches and inverting them using Photoshop. I'm quite happy with how they turned out.

Good stuff Rik. You should definately be happy with them. If you ramp up the maginifcation on M3 you'll definately get some stars resolved in the cluster with 150mm aperture. You could have hours of fun trying to capture a semi-resolved globular on paper! I've only ever tried it once, though I think I'll have another go at a globular later this spring.

Yes M3 and M15 are fab when you put the power up..

Inverting the sketches in Photoshop gives them a more realistic appearance, the black sky and white stars.

Wonderful sketches Rik, thanks for sharing them with us! I agree with using more power on M3, it's an absolutely lovely cluster and takes magnification well.

Really good Nik. Like the others have said, zoom in on M3. Mind you you could get frozen to your chair with the amount of time that could take to sketch!
