Sky at Night Magazine's March Marathon

Recommended Posts

Woohoo. First proper dark night with no clouds, haze or moon since getting the new scope. I decided to have a go at the Sky at Night Magazine March Marathon. Since I'm fairly new to all this, I though it would be a good introduction to the best of the evening sky at this time of year.

The challenge is to find 30 top things in one session. The list is centred on the evening of the 8th but everything should be visible for the first half of March. Objects are a mix of things for naked eye, binoculars, or small telescope.

I found 23/30, 2 more were below the horizon, and I have to admit that I got cold and wimped out on the other 5.

Anybody else tried this challenge? How did you get on?
