Newbie Moon photography query that would have been answered before so, sorry!

You don't say which telescope you are using.... but I'd hazard a guess and say its a achromatic doublet refractor, if this is the case, then you are seeing the chromatic aberrations from the lens.

A yellow filter will significantly reduce it.

Sounds like chromatic aberration to me.

Not so long ago i took a fixed tripod image of Jupiter and it had a massive green CA halo around it. Iremoved the CA from the image using Adobe Photo Deluxe with the click of one button. Sorry i cant remember which button. It was a happy accident on my part.

Certainly filters are worth a go to neutralise it visually, but would they not make the moon appear a strange colour in images?

Maybe a moon filter would work?

I cant say i have really noticed bad CA in my 90EQ. If any.......it is yellow and only appears around maybe a quarter of the moon as a very thin line.
