Hi all

Tuesday night brought some fine skies and a chance to sketch some more Messier's

I hope you like them.

Cancer's overlooked cluster that is well worth a visit.

The 'eyes' of the nebula were difficult to spot and required averted vision to see.

M109

A solid nuclear core dominates this galaxy with fine surrounding nebulosity.

M108

An elongated strip of nebulosity with a foreground star buried within it.

Thanks for taking the time.

Thanks again everyone.

Steve, I use a fine point pen for the stars, more pressure on the nib creates bigger stars, the nebula is sketched using charcoal and a blending stump. I used a kneadable eraser to remove areas that are not needed, such as the eyes of the owl.

Lovely stuff, I was hoping to do some sketching last time home, but it was just too cold to be doing that sort of thing, plus I was busying myself building the prototype & MKII Dob mount for the SNT. Hopefully I'll get chance to do a few sketches whilst I'm back at work.
