That's a point.

The upgrade has to be done with the handset plugged in to the power pack, and not connected to the mount. Just the serial connection to PC. Then, you hold the 0 & 8 down, switch it on, and when it is booted up, the LCD shows it is ready to receive an update.

I am hoping that Steve will replace the HC. But I'll be worried that the replacement HC will come with an older version of firmware and that I'll have to update that.....

Well, spoke to Steve this morning and he has arranged for a replacement HC to be sent. He assures me that the replacement comes with a newer version of firmware and wont need updating.

Still not sure why the 1st HC failed the update, might have been a dodgy HC, probably never know. But, if the new HC has PC Direct then 1 thing is for sure, it wont EVER be updated.......

So, thanks again to FLO for great service and excellent customer support.....

The replacement HC arrived today, firmware version 3.25, and has PC Direct mode. (no need to update, )

Just finished testing it in the house and the mount looks like its doing what it should so all is good in the world again.........
