Hi guys,

First post but have been reading for a while and the info has been invaluable.

I have just bought a Celestron C8 N-GT and have been lucky and got 2 nights of great observing. I was just wondering, with mars being so great at the moment, what tips you would have for observing it, filter ect.

Thanks,

Louis

Hi and welcome to SGL :)

As for Mars, wait till it's higher as you are not observing it through the murky atmosphere, makes alot of difference.

And boost the power up, I was looking at x457 the other day, and details were really evident.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yeah I live in Edinburgh, Scotland so 2 clear nights is a real treat especially when I only got the scope a few days ago. By the looks of things it might be a while before I get out again though...

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know some of you.

Louis
