Recommended Posts

Please use this thread to showcase your best images captured during 2009. Just one post per member but you can include up to 5 images if you want.

The thread is for all imagers novices and advanced. Hopefully we will be able to do the same again next year. Over time we will be able to see the progress which is being made by individuals and as a forum.

Please keep details to a minimum - scope and camera possibly along with a few comments.

The thread needs to be packed with images so please don't respond to the postings

Haven't been out planetary imaging for a while - just need to finish my new power supply. Here are some of my first attempts from last year.

Scope all C9.25. First three SPC900, last one of Jupiter DMK/astronomik RGB.

First ever image of Jupiter - 14th July:

Best of Jup (with Ganymede shadow) with the SPC900 on 24 Sept

Good topic for my 1000th post!

Not a great year but I did manage a couple of reasonable images. These are the pick of last years efforts.

In order they are:

Clavius crater.

Saturn

Jupiter with Io transit and impact scar.

Neptune.

All taken with my Europa 250mm F4.8 Newtonian using wither my Toucam or ATIK webcam and a variety of Barlows, filters, etc.

Here is my modest contribution from my first year of astroimaging:

Venus, March 2009

Moon, April 2009

Jupiter, September 2009

Saturn, March 2009

Uranus & moons, October 2009

All with 200 f/5 Skywatcher Newtonian & SPC900 Webcam, apart from Uranus which was imaged using a Starlight Xpress MX716.

All the best,

Luke

I briefly owned a Imaging Source DFK21 in the summer. Did very little with it before deciding a return to imaging wasn't for me.

So here is my one planetary contribution from 2009:

Taken with Skyliner 200P on EQ5 with Tal 3x barlow. Imaging Source DFK 21AU04.AS.

Date - August 2009

Captured with Craterlet, processed with Registax 5. 1800 frames captured, 930 stacked.

Not much imaging from me in 2009.

Managed to grab a few shots of Jupiter on the few nights I did get out.

These are the pick. taken with a Skywatcher 80ED on an EQ5 using a standard ToUcam 840k and a TAL 3x Barlow.

Captured with QCFocus, stacked in Registax 5. Processed using Image Analyzer and PS

Here are the three best I managed last year (not a particularly good year).

The first is a crescent Venus taken on March 09, and the second is one of Saturn taken on March 20. The third is one of Jupiter taken on December 16, showing a shadow of Europa. Give that I took the latter with Jupiter just 16 deg above the horizon, with added seeing problems from rooftops nearby, not too bad.

All taken with my C8 and Meade Series 5000 TeleXtender 3x, using a Philips TouCam-III-pro

I only started observing in 2009 and for the first time starting imaging in the latter quarter of 2009. I aimed to learn how to image and process on just one target, Jupiter. And in chronological order these were my first 3 attempts.
