Recommended Posts

Please use this thread to showcase your best images captured during 2009. Just one post per member but you can include up to 5 images if you want.

The thread is for all imagers novices and advanced. Hopefully we will be able to do the same again next year. Over time we will be able to see the progress which is being made by individuals and as a forum.

Please keep details to a minimum - scope and camera possibly along with a few comments.

The thread needs to be packed with images so please don't respond to the postings

Getting my dome finished was a huge high for me in 2009. The year wasn't very productive until right at the end when things finally started to come together.

All pictures taken with a QSI 532 camera

M51: 10" LX200ACF using SX active optics unit

Pelican: FSQ 106 with Ha filter

Rosette: FSQ 106 and Baader Ha, OIII and SII filters

M33: FSQ 106. A QHY 8 was used to capture the colour data

The Cone and Christmas Tree Cluster: HaHaRGB

Here's 50% of my total DSO produce of 2009 - 6 images - all year!!

Start with two from Kielder, using piggybacked, modified Canon 450D + cheap 50mm prime lens:

Cygnus Region:

California Nebula and the Pleiades:

main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=677&g2_serialNumber=2

Horsehead and Flame with 450D and ED80. My first and only guided image.

Some of my finest images. All these shots were taken Unguided with a Self Modded 450D. Apart from the two Star Clusters which were taken with a C8 N, the others were imaged with a WO 66SD.

M31 - The Andromeda Galaxy

NGC7000 & IC5070 - The North American & Pelican Nebula

IC1805 - The Heart Nebula

NGC 884 & 869 - The Perseus Double Cluster

M52 Star Cluster

Cheers

Nadeem.

I'll play as well, but so many to choose from :)

Only since May 2009 when I started the hobby.

All taken on ED120 or ED80 with EQ6 Pro with either a Modded 350D or 1000D. Guided with QHY5 / PHD

How much I have swapped and changed since May

Here's a few from me, I've only included images captured and processed by me. There's plenty of room for improvement:

We have: The Bubble Nebula, Blackeye Galaxy, Veil Nebula, Crescent Nebula, M45. All taken using an SXV-H9.

2009 was the first full year I've been imaging (started March '08) and once I ironed out a few kinks in my setup, I think I've managed to hit my stride a bit and pulled out a couple of decent efforts.

In order:

IC 63 (Atik 16hr & WO FLT98)

NGC 7023 (Atik 16hr & WO FLT98)

NGC 891 (Atik 16hr & FLT 98)

IC 417 (Atik & ED80)

and good ol' horsey  (Atik & ED80).

Tony..

2009 was not that good for me, I only had two images that I was happy with, one of Sh2-171 and one of the Rosette nebula, I would have to say that I think the Rosette is my best image so far, probably because it was captured from Kelling Heath and not from my light polluted garden.

Just come across this thread. Wasn't sure what to choose, but people seemed to say nice things about my Helix (NGC 7293) from last year:

I suppose I might as well pair it with the M27 I did in the same week.

Reaping the benefits of getting the camera modded. :D
