Solar Activity 08 Jan

Recommended Posts

A nice clear day here with little wind and - amazingly - no fog! Temp very briefly above freezing but already falling, min -7.9C last night which is remarkable this close to the coast.

Old AR 1039 continues active, with a very small spot visible in white light together with a patch of faint faculae. It's a fine sight in CaK

but even more exciting in Ha, framed by prominent filaments

There are several small proms but the only significanr group is on the limb AR1035 has just come round

Transparency very good, seeing lacking jet stream smearing but with bad boiling, due to heat plumes from surrounding houses, underinsulated, which the very slight breeze is blowing through my line of sight to the Sun. Avistack deals with this sort of bad seeing very well!
