An astronomical oddity coming up in August

Recommended Posts

Not of any scientific significance, but browsing through some plantarium software, it seems that (provided you are far enough south, around 37N) that there will be 7 planets in the sky - all at the same time. The only one missing will be Mercury and it only *just* works, as three will be close to setting and a couple will have just risen.

This condition will apply for a few days around August 15

Question: Can astronauts on the ISS see all the planets at once, provided earth not in the way???

I have often wondered the same thing Tim, also if they turned the lights out what would M42 (for example) look like through a pair of bins :)
