Rambling thoughts of a would be imager....!

I am looking to get one of the Revelation 8" OTA's in the near future, which means my blue chimney is open for 'speriments!

What I'm thinking is to move the mirror up the tube by about 50mm (maybe more?) so I can play with imaging.

Basically, I want to see if I can get focus with focal reducer and the webcam and DSLR.

Does this sound feasable??? :?

It does sound feasible.

I got the FR to work with the webcam without moving the mirror, all I had to do was saw off 10mm from the end of the nosepiece bit.

Assuming that you have the skywatcher 8" (the blue chimney) you can get closer in by unscrewing the 1.25" EP tube out of the adapter, then screwing it in from the back. If you use a shorter screw to hold the nosepiece of the camera you can just put the adapter back in and get the FR to focus.

With the DSLR I have found that the 1.25" FR causes huge vignetting so the useable middle bit of the wider view is the same as the view without the FR.
