Suggestion for an dome observatory

Hi.

I would like to plan an observatory in advanced to build with my house, witch is still in design.

I may do somethings myself, most on the electronics and such, but I have no experience building things so it's likely that I'll have the contractor on the house do the construction part.

I live on an island and it will be the very 1st amateur obsy in here so I can't get any help. Right now I'm hoping you can point me out to as many plans of dome obsys as possible so I can studie them and come up with a design for mine.

I'm thinking about putting it on top of the garage, or on top of a section of the house with access from indoors. Since we occasionally get winds up to 120km/h in automn/winter it needs an aerodynamic design and to be very firmly attached to the flat concrete roof top.

It would be nice to have the dome with automated rotation to match the mount.

Since I'm a bit clueless right now, any input will be most welcome.

I am in the process of building an obsy. Wanted to have a dome but the construction of curved surfaces!!!. Have a look at this one. It can be built in sections and bolted togather.

It haves a good design. Maybe if I use some more robust materials I can have a decent obsy.

I'd go with a geodesic build. Make the dome in cardboard triangle sections, fibreglass over the top, then take out the cardboard. Simples.
