Old Orange Celestron C8 SCT and Crayford Focuser

Recommended Posts

Hi I hope someone can help me here I have read that there are problems to be had when trying to fit a crayford to a old orange C8 sct. something to do with Celestron changing the thread on later models. Doe's anyone know if there is an issue with the GSO10:1 Micro Edge 2" SCT Crayford Style Focuser . Any help appreciated.

I've use Celestrons and Meade SCT's for the last twenty years and that's the first I've ever heard of a possible change to the "standard" 2" SCT thread.

On some of the larger SCT (>10") it is possible to remove the SCT threaded adaptor from the rear cell and expose the 3.25" base thread. This is sometimes used for "eyeopener" attachments.
