i haven't but would mind hearing some feedback. I see the Celestron X-Cels got a rave review in Practical Astronomer.

No difference at all Arthur, you can take the bottom set of lenses out to make it a 30m ish eyepiece. I think thats where you might notice a change, I havn't tried it myself though.

I have the 3.5mm one..They are great for connecting camera's video's etc but as a purely visual eyepiece im not so sure.. of course I have a very small size which doesnt help there.

Tonight I barlowed up my 5.7mm W70 and tried the hyperion there wasnt a lot of difference to be honest and I think with a good quality barlow it will be even stevens between the two of them.

Without the nose piece works best for me taking pics and my moon pic (see june competition) was taken with the hyperion and a fuji s5000 digital camera.

Visualy I prefer to use a seperate eye piece such as the celestron 40mm etc for widerfield views.

Im still waiting for my brother to come up so we can do some side by side testing with both of us and see how it fairs (he has some lovely old bosch & lomb eyepieces that are hard to beat)

I got mine from Dave Hinds on a try it and see basis.. They where happy to take it back if I wasnt happy with it and didnt mark it at all. Perhaps give Adam a ring and ask him if he will do that for you?

Ahem... back to the chase then :)

Adam Hinds made me an offer I couldn't refuse ( ) for the two I was after (17mm and 8mm) so I have ordered them this morning for delivery tomorrow... a very pleasant experience was that call actually, a nice change!

With age comes wisdom - early Bausch & Lomb stuff is supposed to be good 8)

(I have an original Zeiss Ortho, .965, no thread .... love it!)

I nowhave three X-Cels, the 5, 8, and 12mm. I like them very much for their eye relief and wide FOV. I have a little issue with kidney-beaning, especially when they are Barlowed, but they are worth the price. Much easier on the eyes than a standard Plossl.

Yes old fart ones indeed.. My brother has an early 6" SC they produced. Bought it from america years ago.. The eyepieces are of exceptional quality. This was in the days when bausch & lomb where a premier telescope and binocular company.

Right then... What can I say? They are here. They look extremely sexy. I now need some clear skies - and I may get some

So first, very nice dealing with Hinds, Nikki is a great person to talk to and makes it easy to spend hard-earned pennies

Next, delivery next day as promised, EP's wrapped up like eggs for their arduous journey to darkest Norfolk.

Lastly, an excellent price that no one else could beat.

Thanks Adam, and thanks for also keeping me informed all the way :)
