OTA ring lining felt

Hi All,

I want some self adheasive lining felt for some OTA rings I am making, does anyone have any idea what the manufactures use for scope rings, or what can be used as an alternative.

A quick tip, buy some adhesive backed Velcro, the felt side only if you can and stick to the inside of the ring, very strong adhesive and very soft felt - works a treat.

I renewed the stuff on my tube rings with some strips of protostar flocking material that I had lying around and it works just fine.

Sticky backed felt from any haberdashery will do. Just cut and stick

Thanks for the helpful advice, Brendan,John and Philc, self adhesive material seems the way to go, I will visit the City next week to see what the haberdashery stores can turn up.

Hi if you use velcro take care if you use the heavy duty one as it will make the tube rings smaller and you may be unable to do up the rings. I know, tried it with my 200 skywatcher and heq5.

Just use some offcuts of the felt type carpet underlay and stick them on with Evostick or similar. Your local carpet shop have probably got all sorts of odds and ends that they would normally bin.
