Kaptain Klevtsov
I was somewhat less than happy last night. However on reflection (groan) I could have just watched carp on telly and then gone to bed like "normal" people. Somehow I found myself outside in the cold (yes cold!), struggling against the technicalities of the monster thing I had made. AND I intend to do it again tonight if the clouds go away.So on the whole I'm more than happy with the mirrors and the stuff I made to use them, I just need to get to grips with the thing now and start making it all work.I love it when a plan comes together, as one of the philosophers once said.BTW I stuck the collimating laser in this afternoon and it missed the circle on the primary by almost an inch. No wonder I was struggling.Captain Chaos
GordonCopestake
Hehehe, the joys of astronomy! And you've found yet another facet to be amazed by... ATM! I like to think of mass produced astronomy as running Windows and ATM as running Linux. But then im a geek at heart hehe
Kaptain Klevtsov
This is more like 6502 Assembly code at the moment.Linux is for wimps who just want it to work all the time, Windows is for real men as you have to take it all to bits at least once a month.Captain Chaos
jonifive
Splendid bit of engineering CC, very impressive. Particularly like the mount idea.I have to ask though.......do you live in the old Italian car graveyard?
Kaptain Klevtsov
I have to ask though.......do you live in the old Italian car graveyard? A previous expensive hobby, those are some of my personal friends I'll have you know. A tip here for any petrosexual types, do not test drive an ALFA, it will end up with you having several of them. (Always Looking For Another = ALFA)The grey one has now gone to help another of the same stay on the road. I discovered that its rare to end up in front of the Magistrate :faroah: with astrophotography, so I switched.Captain Chaos

I would love to see some more piccies of the scope as well as some taken through it
Kaptain Klevtsov
It's all there now and ready to go. Biggest problem is getting a guide 'scope stuck on it as it has been on the back burner for far too long.I'll try to get it going soon and report back with images. Current M101 project is taking priority at the moment, but once I have a load of Lum. frames in the bag I'll be on it.On second thoughts, I can image with the 16HR, guided with the SC3 on the HEQ5 AND image and guide using a webcam through the Skelescope pointed at Saturn on the EQ6. 4X imagemate, Bob's your uncle. Better drill some holes in the big block of steel I found as both mounts will need plenty counterweights.Captain Chaos
