I am minutes away from purchasing an Orion 8" f/8 Rit-Chr Astrograph and an Orion Atlas EQ-6 mount strictly for imaging....is this the way to go????

What do you intend to Image with the scope Gino.?

Orion have a reputation for good optics, and I'm sure the mount is excellent too, but I am a bit surprised at the ratio of f8. Do you not think a faster system would have suited more for DSO's?

Perhaps your main targets are the moon and planets.

EDIT:

Sorry Gino. Just realised your instrument is an Astrograph, which is well suited to astrophotography.

Will give a nice flat field, and with a reducer too, it will be superb.
