Meade eyepiece on a Skywatcher Dobsonian

Are all 1.25" eyepieces interchangeable between manufacturers? For example, could I use a Meade 4000 Plossl on a Skyliner Dobsonian?

If so, is it worth spending the extra money on a Meade 4000? ...although I suspect I know the answer to that one.

All 1.25" and 2" eyepieces are interchangable between scopes. The Meade 4000's are nice but don't buy a new one - they come up all the time used for £20 or so. The Meade 5000's are even nicer of course !.

The general rule with astro gear is that you get what you pay for although there are a number of other decent plossl eyepieces around as well - TAL, Skywatcher, Antares, Celestron etc. Many are made in the same factory and just re-branded !.
