Monkey Face on the moon

On 17 April I posted a freehand sketch I'd made of the SE Gutenburg area of the moon ( Miscellaneous Log)

Last night I took a few shots of the moon. This morning when I analysed them I found I'd taken a digital shot of the same area as the freehand sketch. Slightly different lighting this time but I still think it looks like a monkey face. What do you think?

I've posted the new image and the old sketch.

In the new image the feature is on the terminator near the bottom of the image.

It looks a bit like a clown face to me, but I see what you mean. I think it was left there by the flying saucer men to show our primitive ancestors that we are not alone. Either that, or they suddenly said, "Hey, let's do a clown!" :D
