WO TR-188 Tripod or Horizon 8115 Tripod ?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a tripod and head that's not too expensive for a lightweight grab-n-go setup using a 66mm APO scope. I can find a review of the Horizon, but nothing on the WO TR-188. It seems fairly light and the quality looks to be OK. Has anyone actually seen or used the TR-188?

Hi John

I have the Horizon tripod too. I think it is excellent value for money being lightish and rigid. It has friction clutches on both axis which make easy to adjust the tension. While there are better ones out there they are several times the price. Highly recommended.

Horizon 8115 ordered from FLO. :)

My ideal choice would be a carbon fibre tripod with Manfrotto RC701 head, but that would be over 4 times the price of the Horizon and I've spent enough on other equipment lately.

John

Know the feeling! As a general purpose tripod the Horizon is very good. A Manfrotto at four times the price is not four times as good.
