Useful mosaic planning trick...

Recommended Posts

As ever, you may already do this but in case you don't, here's an idea for planning mosaics and testing your images to see if they are going to cover the territory you have in mind...

Borrow an image from the net, one which covers your full intended mosaic. Take your first frame and then in Registar (assuming you use it...) drop your own test image onto the borrowed one to see where it lies and whether your second image can fit in eveything you wanted.

Unlike looking at the charts this test is infallible. I have just discovered that I won't be able to do the Heart and Soul Nebulae using the image I already have of the Heart.

Damn!!
