Noctilucent clouds

Just been observing some NLC (02:30 -02:40 BST). Narrow banded type low in the sky, covering an area roughly 350 - 90 deg azimuth.

Unfortunately I don't have a digital camera yet so can't provide images. Can anyone recommend a good compact for less than £150 for astro work?, or would I be better off putting the money towards a DSLR?

(Sorry if this is a bit vague, but I'm new to this site and new to this reporting stuff)

You should be able to pick up a second hand Canon 300D or 350D DSLR for that price or slightly above. It's well worth trying to get one if you can as there is a lot of support for them in the Astrophotography field.

Would have to agree, Canon 350 - 400 and even 1000D's can be got for a little more. Plus you can start to do MUCH more with them as you learn.

There were some more NLC last night, fantastic display, but didn't have my camera handy to snap a shot or two :<
