Cheshire Collimator Questions to help a purchase

Recommended Posts

Right now, I collimate my scope using a borrowed Cheshire and it works fine, but a thought occured to me..

Are all Cheshires the same ? Are they all accurate ? Of course unlike a laser, one assumes that the device itself is in perfect aligment (peep hole to crosshairs) but is this really the case ?

Any advantages paying more money ? I'd be very interested to know what the concensus is about the right one to buy

Thanks

PS - presume FLO have a good one to sell me ...:icon_salut:

There are some de-luxe ones around. Catseye do one I think.

I find just the basic Cheshire works well for me. Star tests confirm collimation as being spot on. The only realy downer is I find the standard Cheshire a bit too long to do the sceobdary mirror alignment so I also have a collimation cap to handle that part of the job.
