Thank you all for your kind comments. The 400mm is on a 1.6 crop camera that makes it 640mm.

I am hoping to buy a tripod and head soon, but there are so many to choose from. I think I will have to pay a visit to a retailer. With a tripod, I will be able to achieve tighter focus.
