roundycat
or NGC 7023 to give it it's proper name. TMB 152/ST10 and 5m subs in red and green and 8m subs in blue, nine of each totalling 165 minutes. I think to do this properly I will have to use an ABG camera as the central bloom gets a bit big. Most of the pre-processing done in Maxim, the rest in PS. North is up.Dennis
Aza
Thats really nice and smokey looking.I have not tried this target, but it does look quite tricky due to the very bright centre. The blue colour is indeed lovely

Tim
Looks just like a flare at a football game, the smoke/dust has that feel about it where you could just reach out and touch it. Really nice Dennis.

roundycat
Thanks guys. Les, you are right, another three or four hours would be nice. Perhaps later this year as I seem to have had my quota of clear sky this month!Dennis

MartinB
That's very nicely done Dennis. You must have quite a dark sky, my subs would be awash with sky glow with those exposure times.
greenkat
Lovely, to me it looks like something out of a sci-fi programe like Blake 7 or the tomorrow people jees, that takes me back a bit lol
Cloudwatcher
Lovely indeed! A favorite of mine but never been able to obtain an image that, unlike yours, did it justice. Just had to have a quick go at darkening the background and increasing the saturation, hope thats OK with you.
roundycat
Cloudwatcher, you are welcome to play around with anything I post. As it happens I disagree with your increasing the contrast. I used to present objects like this with way too much contrast all the time and now tend to keep it lower. Overdo it and star colour goes and the super contrasty brighter bits of the nebula just don't look right. The dust clouds around the nebula are not actually a neutral dark grey, more a dark brown. I managed to get another two and a half hours last night so watch this space!!Dennis
